According to the legal community on the 1st, A (28, female), who was recently arrested on charges of extortion and attempted extortion, reported to the police the suspicion of drug use by B (29, female), the manager of an entertainment establishment, in October last year.
Mr. A, who had previously been sentenced to prison for fraud, first met Mr. B, a six-time drug offender, in prison, and later became close friends while living above his officetel.

It was confirmed that Mr. A went directly to the Incheon Police Agency’s drug crime investigation office and provided evidence such as Mr. B’s hair.
Ultimately, Mr. B was arrested by the police on October 18 last year due to a decisive tip from Mr. A, and was detained three days later.
Mr. A is also accused of threatening to demand 200 million won from Mr. Lee around the same time, ultimately receiving 50 million won.
At the time, Mr. A was completely unfamiliar with Mr. Lee. When he found out the contact information and threatened Mr. Lee, he said, “I’m going to arrest Mr. B (who took drugs), and I need to get money, too.” He added, “Let’s recover all the money given to Mr. B and end with 200 million won (to give to me).” He said.
Mr. Lee’s side suspected that Mr. A and Mr. B had conspired in the blackmail case.
This is because in September of last year, he first handed 300 million won to Mr. B after hearing, “An unknown hacker is trying to expose our relationship. I think we will have to use money to stop him.”
However, the police believe that Mr. A and Mr. B did not work together to threaten Mr. Lee.
In addition, it is believed that financial issues and Mr. Lee’s threats were behind the fact that Mr. A reported Mr. B, whom he had always called her sister and was very close with, to the police as a drug user.
There was a conflict between the two over money, and it is suspected that Mr. A calculated that if the police arrested Mr. B, the incident in which he threatened Mr. Lee would also be buried.
The police suspect that the person who threatened Mr. B is Mr. A, but are investigating without completely ruling out the possibility that there is another blackmailer.
A police official said, “Because the investigation is still ongoing, we cannot reveal specific details,” but added, “Even though Mr. Lee has died, we plan to continue investigating the extortion case.”
