Less than 20 minutes ago

– Everything happened quite quickly, says the woman in her 20s.

At 15.05 the West police district received a report of a bus that had run over a sign which then hit a woman in the forehead.

– I had been to a cafe with a friend. On the way past Kode, a bus came which must have driven onto the pavement and hit the road sign. The sign hit me in the forehead. I touched my forehead and realized that I was bleeding quite a lot, says the woman.

Put pressure on the wound

She called her friend’s name. The friend brought training clothes with her, and had training pants tied around her head and applied pressure to the wound.

– There were lots of people who wanted to help, including a nice guy from Kode who quickly called an ambulance and spoke reassuringly to me and my friend. Then others came with paper to us, both from the restaurant and from a cafe, she says.

Had to sew 20 stitches

The woman says that the fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene and checked that she was conscious. Soon after, an ambulance arrived.

– The bus driver was also gone and checked how I was doing, but I was in shock and a little shaky.

She was taken into the ambulance and taken to the emergency room. There she learned that she has received a wound that goes all the way to her skull. In total, she has had to sew over 20 stitches.

– Grateful that people helped

– Now I have family around me, and they look after me well. I’ll probably have to take it easy going forward, so there won’t be so much reading for the exam.

She is nevertheless grateful that it did not get worse:

– The sign could have hit higher up on the head or in the neck. I am also grateful that I had good people around me, and that so many were willing to help us when it happened, she says.
