Dubai: A woman gave birth on an Emirates flight from Japan to Dubai. While traveling in flight EK 319, the passenger went into labor at an altitude of 35,000 feet above sea level. The flight attendants were quick to assist and provide care. The authorities revealed that the woman gave birth without difficulty.
The flight took off from Tokyo International Airport and took 12 hours to reach Dubai. Since it was a direct flight, there was no facility to transfer to the hospital in between. In this situation, the care was taken by the flight crew.
Officials revealed that the mother and child who landed in Dubai were immediately provided with other necessary medical assistance and both are fine. Emirates authorities have confirmed the incident. The company said that the health and safety of its employees and passengers is of utmost importance. Fellow passengers said the flight crew intervened quickly and provided assistance.
Although women are not allowed to travel after a certain stage of pregnancy, giving birth on an airplane is not uncommon. More than one such incident has been reported last year. This happens due to medical complications and unexpected problems.
