Texas: Woman gets into the monkey enclosure and feeds the animals
With some actions you really wonder where people left their minds: A young woman got into the spider monkey’s enclosure in the US state of Texas last weekend without permission. She played with the wild animals and hand-fed them. The zoo director suspects: the young woman probably wanted a few snapshots or spectacular videos for her Instagram account! But the action could have had dangerous consequences not only for them, but also for the animals. You can see the recordings in the video.
Action would have dangerous consequences for the monkeys and the woman
The zoo director Joe Montisano is completely indignant about the action of the young woman. Not only did she put herself in serious danger: the little spider monkeys appear cute and harmless. But they are still wild animals that can seriously injure people with their claws or a bite.
But the monkeys themselves were also in danger from the situation. Allegedly, the woman fed the animals with chips. In order to stay healthy, the animals in the zoo are subject to a strict diet. Simply feeding them human food could damage their health. Spider monkeys can also get Corona. It is therefore irresponsible to get close to their enclosure.
“It takes years to build trust with these animals, and if someone comes in for five minutes for a video on Instagram or whatever, they undo years of work. It will be a long time before they are back to where they were and.” can exercise, “explains zoo director Montisano.
Magical moment: gorilla lady only has eyes for visitor baby
Barriers, fences and windows in the zoo should never be passed over without authorization. Especially not for the perfect Instagram photo. That doesn’t have to be the case, because magical moments can happen without breaking the rules.
This happened recently at Franklin Park Zoo in the US state of Massachusetts. There a human mom and a gorilla lady shared their baby happiness through the glass pane. You can see the touching pictures here.
