Woman dresses up as “Statue of Liberty” and smears “Black Lives Matter” lettering

Berlin. A woman smeared pink paint on the big “Black Lives Matter” lettering on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York on Sunday. The US broadcaster reports “Fox 5 New York″. A video shows how the protester named Juliet Germanotta pours paint over the typeface and is disguised as a Statue of Liberty. She was arrested and charged with vandalism.

It is the third time that Germanotta has stained the lettering. Activists had painted the huge writing on the street in front of Trump Tower. It stands for the protest movement against racist police violence that emerged at the end of May in the USA and in many other countries around the world as a result of the brutal death of the African American George Floyd during a police operation.

Another woman threw blue paint on the writing in June, and a man put red paint on her in July. Mayor Bill de Blasio, who had helped with the painting himself, had the paint removed again.
