NEW YORK – A wellness check in a Brooklyn apartment turned into a horror scene after a young woman was found dead, dismembered and her remains in suitcases, according to authorities.
The agents were called to the Linwood Apartments on Linwood Street in East New York at around 1:30 PM. Police said they were conducting a welfare check for a 22-year-old woman.
When the police arrived, they found human remains and blood inside the sixth floor apartment. Police sources said the body parts were stored in separate suitcases, but the police could not confirm whether it was the victim’s entire body.
Police have not released the identity of the person to whom they believe the body parts belong.
A person of interest has been questioned by the police, but no arrests have yet been made.
The investigation is in the early stages and it was not clear what could have happened before the macabre find.
The coroner will determine the cause of death. An investigation is ongoing.
