Marriage is a moment that requires careful preparation. But what happens if the wedding that has been prepared does not go according to plan? Instead of marrying the bride-to-be, this man ended up marrying the sister of his future bride.
As quoted from India.com, a wedding in Samaspur, Bharthana, Etawah, India, suddenly became the spotlight because the bride-to-be reportedly died during the wedding ceremony. Instead of stopping the wedding ceremony, the bride’s family decided to continue the marriage by asking the bride’s brother to take her place as the bride.
The bride, named Surabhi, suddenly fell unconscious beside her partner, Manjesh Kumar while preparing for the final ceremony. One of the doctors who examined him later stated that Surabhi died of a heart attack.
“We don’t know what to do in this situation. The two families sat together and someone suggested that my younger sister Nisha marry the groom. The family discussed the matter and both agreed,” explains Surabhi’s brother Saurabh.
Surabhi’s body was then kept in another room and the groom, Manjesh Kumar continued the marriage by marrying Nisha, Surabhi’s sister. However, Surabhi’s uncle said it was a difficult decision for his family to make.
“It was a difficult choice for our family. A daughter lay dead in one room and the other daughter’s wedding took place in another. We have never seen such mixed emotions,” said Ajab Singh, Surabhi’s uncle.
