NEW YORK – A driver who police say was racing through a Brooklyn neighborhood overnight allegedly ran over two people waiting at a bus stop and one of them, a 20-year-old woman, has died.
The Police are looking for the alleged perpetrator who fled the scene. Investigators believe that three cars were in a street race in Crown Heights around 3:00 a.m. when one of the cars jumped the sidewalk and struck the victims.
A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were taken to Kings County Hospital. The woman, later identified by authorities as Aniya Blandon, was pronounced dead.
The man suffered “leg abrasions” and was expected to recover.
Police say the driver abandoned the car near Eastern Parkway Y Utica Avenue at the crash site and fled in one of the other cars.
Authorities had not released any description of the suspects as of Monday morning.
