Cause of death most likely CO poisoning

As already reported, the couple’s son, who also lived in the residential building in “Wernweg”, found his parents lifeless in their bedroom in the afternoon and dialed the emergency number. While the father could be saved, all help came too late for the mother. She died on the spot. The condition of the 72-year-old, who is currently still being treated in a clinic, is now stable.

On Tuesday (January 12th, 21st) the first signs of an increased CO concentration in the house appeared. In order to get to the bottom of this suspicion, experts from the State Criminal Police Office arrived on Wednesday (13.01.21) and carried out intensive investigations in the house together with the Würzburg police force.

During the course of Thursday (01/14/21), a special expert was called in again, especially to inspect the pellet heating system. The origin of the carbon monoxide is still the subject of ongoing criminal investigations; there is currently a lot to suggest a technical cause. The house is still not habitable.
