Shortly before 10 a.m., police officers were summoned to the apartment fire on Keplerstrasse. There they were expected by the 77-year-old sister of the 80-year-old householder. The officers entered the apartment with their keys, and the owner lay motionless on the floor. The officers took the woman outside and handed her over to the rescue workers. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the emergency doctor was only able to determine the death of the 80-year-old.
The cause of the fire and the amount of damage were not yet clear on Wednesday evening. The investigations were taken over by the fire group of the State Criminal Police Office Upper Austria.
