Jakarta –
Returning to life after being declared dead is something that sounds impossible and only happens in movies. However, a woman from New Jersey, United States, Courtney Santiago, claimed to have been dead for 40 seconds and came back alive.
He shares this experience through his personal TikTok account. When she ‘died’, the 32-year-old woman said she entered into a dream state and found herself on the beach in the presence of a man she had never met before.
In the video, which has been watched more than 60,000 times, she says that the man she met assured her that everything would be fine and it wasn’t time yet.
Santiago initially experienced this unique incident when he was undergoing a breast scan or MRI as a form of early prevention because he has a history of breast cancer in his family.
When receiving the infusion, Santiago’s body went into shock which caused his blood pressure to drop and his heart rate to slow down drastically.
“I don’t worry about leaving my body, my life, my son, or my family and friends. Nothing feels important,” she said, quoted from New York Post.
As a result, Santiago is unconscious and claims to have ‘went to heaven’ and has an encounter with a man he doesn’t recognize only to hear that everything will be fine and it’s not yet time to leave.
“There is no concept of time at all, just a feeling of complete peace,” he said.
After hearing these words, Santiago admits that his surroundings suddenly changed. He found himself in the mountains, the back garden of his childhood, to several other places related to nature.
When he finally regained consciousness, Santiago admitted that he could not speak and his whole body was stiff.
According to medics, Santiago suffers from vasovagal syncope, a condition in which the patient’s body can overreact to certain triggers, such as emotional stress or blood. Blood pressure and heart rate that drop drastically can make a person lose consciousness due to oxygen-deprived brain conditions.
Although the heart can drop by up to 10 seconds, this condition is not life-threatening.
“I am 100 percent sure what I saw was ‘in between’ and more than just a fainting episode,” Santiago said.
“I told the nurse about what I had seen and she told me that although it is rare, it is possible to die during an episode of vasovagal syncope.”
