Woman claims Jamie Foxx sexually assaulted her in New York bar; the actor denies

NEW YORK (AP) — A woman claims in a lawsuit that actor, singer and comedian Jamie Foxx sexually assaulted her in a New York bar in 2015, an event the actor says “never happened.”

A woman known only in documents as Jane Doe filed the lawsuit Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, claiming Foxx rubbed her breasts and groped her down her pants without her consent.

According to the lawsuit, she and a friend were sitting at a table next to Foxx at Catch NYC restaurant in 2015. The woman asked Foxx for a photo, and the two women took several photos with him. The complaint claims he began complimenting her “supermodel body” and told her she looked like actress Gabrielle Union.

It was then that he took her by the arm and took her to a secluded area, where he put his hands under her top and touched her breasts, according to the lawsuit. She tried to get away from Foxx while he put his hands down her pants and touched her genitals, she said in the complaint.

When the woman’s friend found them, Foxx stopped and the women walked away, according to the lawsuit.

A representative for Foxx, 55, issued a statement on Thursday in which he assured that the alleged event never occurred.

“In 2020, this person filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter. The signs are no more viable today than they were then. We are sure that they will be rejected again. And once they are, Mr. Foxx intends to file a malicious prosecution lawsuit against this person and his attorneys for refiling this frivolous action,” the statement said.

According to the lawsuit, the woman is seeking damages to be determined during the trial.

The lawsuit was one of many filed this week under a temporary New York law, the Adult Survivors Act, which allows adult victims to file complaints for alleged sexual assaults that previously would have fallen outside the statute of limitations. The law expired after Thursday.

The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they come forward publicly.
