Freissy Batista Pereya was charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to a bar in New York’s Westchester County after a dispute with staff.
The 32-year-old Bronx (NYC) resident was at “Drake Main Cafe” in New Rochelle on Monday night when she had a heated dispute with local workerssaid county police in a press release.
She apparently left angrily and supposedly returned around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday with a can of gasoline and poured the fuel on the exterior walls and entrance of the premises before setting it on fire, he reported. New York Post.
Police said Batista Pereya fled the scene after allegedly setting the fire, but she was caught nearby trying to get into an Uber. The bar owner was able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and no one was hurt..
It is unclear what caused the dispute that sparked the customer’s ire. Batista Pereya was arraigned in New Rochelle City Court later that day on charges of arson and criminal conduct. He was released on bail, pending a further court appearance on December 21.
“Drake Main Cafe” also made the news over the summer when a car crashed into the bar, injuring five people, reported News12.
