Woman Arrested in Connection with Shooting Deaths of Two NYU Students in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rican authorities arrest a woman in connection with the shooting deaths of two Peruvian NYU students who were vacationing on the island.

As reported by WAPA-TV, the prosecutor’s office made the arrest of Marangelys Mclat Claudio on Monday night, after interviewing the woman.

They are still investigating whether he had any role in the murder of the young people.

It is also known that he has a criminal history including auto theft and obstruction of justice.

“A video was broadcast through the networks and through the media, a woman with the characteristics shown in that video was made available,” says Antonio López Figueroa, San Juan Police Commissioner.

According to the Puerto Rico Police Department, Franco Medina and Sergio Palomino Ruiz were walking on the road when they were shot at during a dispute inside a bar on Saturday night.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help families cover funeral costs.

NYU said they were pursuing an MBA at the Stern school of business.

They were part of a traveling group with other students, but no one else was hurt.

An NYU spokesperson issued a statement saying they have reached out to the families of the students to provide assistance.
