The police arrested a woman with the initials LA (29) who planted cannabis tree in his own house in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta. Ganja it is grown in a cupboard hydroponically.
“Inside the cupboard is equipped with a lamp and also ultraviolet light as a substitute for the sun,” said West Jakarta Metro Police Head of Narcotics Unit AKBP Akmal in his statement, Saturday (5/8/2023).
Akmal said that LA works as an employee. He said the cannabis trees planted in LA also grew to a height of 1 meter.
“So the equipment is quite simple but enough to make the cannabis plant grow up to approximately 1 meter,” he said.
He said LA grows cannabis for personal consumption, not for sale. He said LA learned self-taught to grow the cannabis.
“There are various kinds of liquid fertilizers used for the equipment. So this is a kind of mini-lab, how can the person concerned carry out trials or experiments? From the start, he only bought cannabis for consumption, then this LA suspect,” he said.
He said LA got the cannabis seeds from friends who bought them online on social media. He said LA had been growing hydroponic cannabis since March.
“The seeds were bought online so one of his acquaintances. But he never met him through social media. Then he was sent dry cannabis leaves along with the seeds,” said Akmal.
“So I started learning to plant my own from March. So now it’s more or less the beginning of August, which means about 4 months. And the growth is up to about 1 meter,” he added.
Furthermore, Akmal said that LA had been named a suspect. LA is charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) Subsidiary Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
“So the results of our investigation while the person concerned grows are only for their own consumption. At first they were only regular users, then they were interested in trying to grow their own,” he said.
