Authorities in Passaic County, New Jersey, arrested a woman for allegedly repeatedly stabbing her 5-year-old granddaughter on Wednesday afternoon, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdés announced Thursday.
Aurora Villacorta, 51, of Paterson, was charged with several charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to the investigation by Paterson authorities, the incident occurred on October 11, around 4:10 pm in the area of Carroll Street y Godwin Avenue. When the uniformed officers arrived they found the 5-year-old girl with multiple stab wounds after allegedly being stabbed by her grandmother, Aurora Villacorta.
If found guilty on just one of the charges, Villacorta could face up to 10 years in prison.
The case is under investigation.
