Woman and Horse Rescue Operation at Demningane in Porsgrunn

The emergency services go out to a body of water in Porsgrunn on Sunday at 12.30.

– The police are on their way to the scene with several units for a rescue operation. A horse with a rider has gone through the ice on the spot, says the operations manager in the Sørøst police district.

There must be dense snowdrifts at the site.

The rider and horse must have gone through the ice at Demningane near Bergsbygda.

– The rider has himself reported to the emergency services and is in dialogue with the fire service on the phone, the police say.

The rider must be a woman.

– The situation is that a horse has gone through the ice. As we understand it, the horse is on the bottom with its head above water, says duty manager Tim Vold Wessel in 110 Sør-Øst Wessel to VG .

At 1 p.m., the emergency services gained control of the situation.

– Control of rider and horse. Rider has not been in the water and is in good condition. The horse is still partly in the water. The fire service will assist in rescuing the horse, says operations manager Kamilla Aardal.
