Woman and Her Boyfriend’s Apartment Goes Viral on TikTok

– People write that I deserve to die and be raped, and that my lover should leave me. But I just have to laugh at it – that someone can get so angry about someone else’s apartment.

That’s what 26-year-old Emma Ganzarain tells Dagbladet. Ten days ago, she published several before and after pictures of her boyfriend’s apartment in Oslo, with the text: All men need a woman in their life.

Now has the video almost 7.5 million views. Several of the films she posted on TikTok before this, by comparison, have less than 50,000 views.

– It was clearly a sore point for many. People have been furious, and believe that I changed the apartment against my partner’s wishes. I think they, alone, have caused the apartment to go from “nice and colorful to sad and neutral”.

– Hit back hard

Subsequently, several international media have contacted the Oslo woman, and Indy and Insider are among those who have mentioned the video.

– I think it was the text that caused people to be provoked. It was actually intended as a joke that boys are not always most interested in interiors, but it backfired on me – and people felt the need to say that I am not good at interiors, speculates the 26-year-old.

Ganzarain is laughable when she talks to Dagbladet, and it is clear that she has a humorous approach to it all. When asked if there are still some comments that have hit particularly hard, she replies that it is never fun to get nasty messages.

– Some of the comments have been very extreme. But you don’t take it so seriously when it comes to interior design, she says.

The 26-year-old emphasizes that it is his girlfriend’s apartment, but that they have renovated it together. However, he has, in the end, had the final say in the decisions.

– Behind the goal

Several of the feedbacks have been about how the expression has become less personal and that it is more like a “show room”, or exhibition space. This has its natural explanation, according to Ganzarain, as they have not finished the renovation yet.

– I have also been open to many of the comments, when people have made suggestions, for example. The constructive part has been fun – we have purchased things afterwards. But many of the comments are off target and unconstructive.

When asked how his girlfriend reacted when he saw how the video was received, the 26-year-old replied that he was horrified.

– He became worried and afraid that I would take it to myself. It was very unexpected to get such reactions. But he realized it didn’t affect me that much, so now we laugh about it. It’s basically fun that so many people get involved in our apartment, she says, laughing.

– Gets scared

– What do you think about the “TikTok world” when you get such comments on interior pictures?

– You get a little scared. We have nephews and nieces around ten years old, who can’t wait to get TikTok. I’m an adult and can tolerate it – but not everyone can brush it off so easily. These are very mean comments, and sad if they are going to affect younger girls.

After posting the photos, she has posted several videos where she addresses the comments with a humorous approach. This has led to more people seeing the fun in it – despite the fact that the comments are still pouring in. Some have also allowed themselves to be provoked even more.

For the girlfriend, it has also led to many inquiries, according to Ganzarain:

– People say he should dump me and find someone better. He also receives messages from girls, who say they are single. People have no shame – it’s been a bit of “mayhem”.
