Woman accused of robbery Man killed in New York Hit-and-Run – NBC New York

NEW YORK – If you thought you saw everything in New York, then no. A woman was arrested by police after robbing a man who was hit by a truck in Manhattan.

Police said the victim was hit by a truck on the corner of West 44th Street and Eighth Avenue in Times Square and died instantly. A video of the cell phone circulating on social media showed the suspect, Geneice Draper, 40, standing next to the truck shortly after the accident.

The footage shows Draper approaching the victim as he lay on the ground under the truck, when investigators said he rummaged in his pockets, taking the victim’s wallet. It all happened as people watched in disbelief.

Transit police arrested Draper later that day without much incident as he was leaving a train station along Eighth Avenue. Police said the woman recognized the officers following her and she tried to escape, but she was quickly arrested.

Our sister station NBC New York was told that the suspect has a long criminal history, with dozens of previous arrests, the most recent taking place just days before the alleged robbery.

As she was being led out of the police station by the police just before 3pm, she watched reporters ask her questions about the allegations, to which she simply replied brazenly, “So what?”

Draper was facing at least one theft charge and was facing a judge later on Thursday or Friday. Information on his attorney was not immediately released.
