A woman from Lansingerland was accidentally given the Pfizer vaccine when she was actually called up for a test for infection with the virus. Staff at the GGD location at Rotterdam The Hague Airport did not properly check the woman’s data, writes the regional broadcaster Rijnmond. As a result, she ended up in the injection line and not the test line.
According to the GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond, the woman had not read her appointment confirmation correctly. She herself was convinced that she needed to be vaccinated. When she arrived at the testing site, she did not need to show her confirmation of appointment for the test. As a result, she ended up in the wrong hall.
It also went wrong there. At the registration desk for the vaccination, the woman could not show the confirmation letter because she did not have it with her. Because the computer systems were running slowly, the desk clerk sent the woman on to save time. After the vaccination, everything would be processed.
Second vaccine
Immediately after the shot, the error was noticed. A doctor checked the woman. According to the service, she is doing well. She will soon receive the second vaccine.
The GGD says it is shocked by the incident. “If the registration had been carried out more carefully, the vaccination could not have taken place”, a spokesman tells Rijnmond.
“It shows the importance of all steps being taken carefully. We have taken steps to prevent this from happening in the future.”
