Areline Martinez was blindfolded and her hands tied next to a man who played a hostage. Then, according to The Sun, two men walk into the statue, one of which has a weapon. When he threatens the two ‘hostages’ with the weapon, it goes off and Martinez is killed.
It is unclear how the weapon was loaded and whether it was a legal weapon. The attorney general said: “One of the scenarios is that they were tampering with a firearm and thought it was not loaded and then accidentally shot the woman.”
The two gunmen have since been identified. It is unclear whether they have also been arrested. Martinez was buried on Monday, she is leaving a child.
