Hellen, 84, bravely fought back on Friday against a robber who tried to rob her of her necklace on Tillystraat in Suriname. According to Marcel, the victim’s partner, they were talking to their daughter shortly before the robbery when someone knocked at the gate.
“My wife walked forward and saw a young man who indicated that he had a letter for us. Talking to my partner, he pushed open the gate and entered the yard. He knocked my wife to the ground and tried to snatch her necklace. My brave wife fought back with the perpetrator,” Hellen’s partner told the editors of Waterkant.Net.
A passerby, driver of a black pickup, saw the case. The robber had no choice but to flee. He ran to a waiting moped rider who was standing a little further down the street. The pickup driver gave a wild chase.
He managed to jam the moped, after which the suspects left the place on foot, leaving their moped behind. The police, the Regional Assistance Team Paramaribo (RBTP), were able to arrest both suspects in a grove. It concerns 21-year-old Jeffaro A. and Joshua M. (24) reports the Surinamese police. A tow truck brought the abandoned moped to the office.
According to Marcel, his wife thought the robber had run off with her gold chain, but it was later found in his wife’s underwear. The Munder police have secured both suspects after consultation with the Surinamese Public Prosecution Service.
