A 19-year-old woman from Boxtel died in an accident in Morocco. Her mother and brother were also in the car, they were injured. Local police officer Hicham confirms this. On Friday, the Moroccan community will say goodbye to her in Mosque Al Fath and the De Walnoot community center in Boxtel.
The accident happened on January 6. According to a Moroccan news channel, three people were also injured, including the woman’s mother and brother. Two cars collided head-on at the bend and were severely damaged. This happened in the north of Morocco, between the cities of Dar el Kebdani and Ben Tayeb.
“It has had quite an impact within the Islamic community,” says the community police officer. “It hit like a bombshell in both the Moroccan and Turkish communities in Boxtel. The community is quite close-knit in Boxtel, so when something like this happens, everyone is involved.”
The local police officer has now spoken to several people and calls the accident terrible. He is also scared himself. “A 19-year-old dying like this in the prime of her life is an excruciating pain for the family.”
The woman is buried in Morocco. “In Islam it is the case that people are buried within 24 hours. So people have already said goodbye there and all kinds of meetings have been held.”
According to local police officer Hicham, the woman’s family has now returned home. She will be commemorated in Boxtel on Friday. “Space has been made to hold a sadaqa, which means that all kinds of readings and supplications are made in memory.”
