Wolves Lose to Ravensburg Towerstars in First DEL 2 Game of the Year

No luck for the Wolves in the first game of the year against Ravensburg

EHC Freiburg lost its first DEL 2 game of the new year. The Wolves lost to the second-placed Ravensburg Towerstars on Tuesday in the local Echte Helden Arena with 2:3 (0:0, 0:3, 2:0). Just over 2,800 spectators saw the Breisgau team concede three goals within 88 seconds – a loss from which they were unable to recover.

After a goalless first half, it was a poorly defended Ravensburger counterattack by Sam Herr that amounted to the first blow in the neck for the pack (32′). But that wasn’t enough: Maximilian Hadraschek then needed 22 seconds for his double strike (33′), which made it 3-0 from the visitors’ perspective.

The fact that Freiburg attacker Ludwig Nirschl was unavailable (hand injury) could only partially explain the lack of offensive power. Instead, there was often a lack of straightforwardness. Things only got better in the final third when Eero Elo, among others, hit the post (43′). In the power play the Finn managed to make it 1:3 (47th). Philipp Wachter scored a little later to make it 2-3 (50′). Only the last and decisive goal, which would have meant a point, didn’t come.
