On the 29th, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutor’s Office announced on the 25th that it had executed an arrest warrant for Lee who was handed over to trial on charges of violating the Labor Standards Act. Earlier, on the 19th, the court issued an arrest warrant for Lee for failing to attend the trial. If the accused’s failure to appear several times, the court may issue an arrest warrant ex officio.
Representative Lee was charged with not paying 42 million won in wages and 18 million won in severance pay to eight workers who were employees of the Wolhyang Korea University branch. The case where the Seoul Central District Prosecutor and the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office, who investigated Mr. Lee on the same charge, were also merged, and a trial is underway under the Seoul Northern District Law. As of November last year, Wolhyang’s delinquent wages, filed with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, were reported to exceed 1.3 billion won. It is a total of 248 employees, including 8 Korea University branches.
In the process of selling soy sauce crab in 2019, Lee was suspected of selling some Chinese crabs as domestically produced. However, in November of last year, the prosecutors’ prosecution dismissed Wol-hyang and Lee, who were charged with violating the law on the labeling of the country of origin of agricultural and marine products, with no charges.
Previously, Lee said that he would directly purchase Taeansan Soy Sauce Crab at an affordable price and sell it on an online platform. However, some media reported suspicion that’Wolhyang side sold blue crabs even though they knew they were made in China’, which led to prosecution charges in April of last year.
