It is not butter between Red Bull and Mercedes, that should be clear. In recent months there has been a lot of mud thrown at each other and certainly since the Grand Prix of Great Britain, the relationship between the two parties seems irreparable. Max Verstappen was also not friendly about the actions of Lewis Hamilton during that race.
In Italian Autosprint the quotes are compared with Verstappen’s quotes about the ‘cheating Ferrari’. At the Scuderia, Verstappen no longer had to knock for a possible seat with the team from Maranello. Is the same now the case for a possible seat at Mercedes, is the question that is put to team boss Toto Wolff.
This confirms that there is no place for Verstappen in his team for the time being. “We have our ideas for our drivers and so does Ferrari with its good line-up. McLaren too, especially with Norris who looks good for the future. We are not looking for drivers, because we already have good options.” the Austrian reasons.
The door is therefore closed for Verstappen, but according to Wolff, the Dutchman and his entourage would not for a moment think of a switch. “I think Max’s entourage is happy with where he is now. Red Bull is his team and his home. Why not leave it as it is?”
