Wolf Shot after Sheep Attack on Tynset Farm: Farmer Describes Harrowing Scene

On the night of Monday, a wolf was felled right outside a barn on Tynset. At the latest on Thursday, a felling permit was granted.

According to NRK The wolf was shot around 1 a.m. on Monday. The wolf went straight through the yard and jumped over a fence to get in to the sheep, writes The Thinseting.

On Sunday morning, two sheep were discovered that had been taken by wolves in Teldalen on Tynset.

Sheep farmer Kjersti Ane Bredesen found the two dead sheep inside the barn and was able to ascertain that a wolf must have been there, the newspapers write The Thinseting and Labor Court.

Another sheep was found killed by the wolf in a field outside the barn.

Went into the barn

– The wolf has actually been inside the barn doors. There are real bloodstains here, and it is clear that there has been a fight. My sheep go in here and sleep at night. I don’t have a large herd and have felt safe with the arrangement that they can go in and out of the barn, says Bredesen to the Labor Court.

The sheep attack is believed to have happened on Saturday evening or Sunday night. The Norwegian Nature Inspectorate (SNO) carried out investigations on Sunday morning and determined that it was a wolf attack.

– No doubt. Here there are bite marks on the neck, severe neck bites above and below. As well as wolf tracks in the snow. One theory could be that the wolf attacked outside and the sheep ran into the barn after it. Because there are intestines and blood at the entrance, says Jon Horten in SNO to the newspaper.
