The National Basketball Association (NBA) season will kick off next week with the first games. Two Latvian basketball players will play: Kristaps Porziņgis from Washington “Wizards” and Dāvis Bertāns from Dallas “Mavericks”.
In the test game against the Charlotte Hornets, Porzingis sprained his ankle, which left him on the question mark for participation in the final test match against the New York Knicks.
Washington will start the new season on the night of October 20 against the Indiana Pacers, but Porzingis’ injury is not considered serious.
“NBC Sports Washington” basketball analyst Chase Hughes worked out his predictions ahead of next season, believing there are two possible scenarios for Porzingis’ next season.
It all depends on health and how much he will play. The best scenario is that you play 70 or more games, which it has only done once before. The worst thing is that Kristaps takes the field in less than half of the games. “
“I think it fits very well in Washington,” says Hughes of Porzingis’ entry into the “Wizards”, adding that if it weren’t for his health problems, the man from Liepāja would be classified in other categories. “His average stats could make him one of the best tall players in history.”
In 337 regular season games, Porzingis averaged 18.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.9 blocks.
