Witnesses wanted for attempted murder on the street

Who saw a bloody argument on the street in Zellerau in May? The police are looking for eyewitnesses for an attempted murder and grievous bodily harm on May 16 in Maillingerstrasse and the corner of Ysenburgstrasse. A 42-year-old is said to have attacked a 53-year-old friend between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. and inflicted severe head injuries.

Investigations didn’t begin until a month later

According to the police, their investigations into the suspected homicide only began one month after the crime. Because the victim only filed a complaint on June 20? by then the man had been hospitalized.

The two men were “on friendly terms with each other” before the crime, according to the police report. But on Sunday, May 16, they got into an argument that escalated in the course of the evening.

Last Friday, the criminal police arrested the 42-year-old. The Würzburg public prosecutor’s office had obtained an arrest warrant against the alleged perpetrator on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. After his presentation to the investigating judge, however, the accused was released on Saturday due to a lack of “urgent suspicions”.

In order to be able to reconstruct the crime, the investigators hope for witnesses. Anyone who can provide relevant information should contact the police at 0931 / 457-1732.
