Bolzano – The search for the missing couple from Bolzano ended unsuccessfully on Wednesday. Laura Perselli and Peter Neumair disappeared without a trace on January 4th. If you initially assumed an accident a violent crime is currently not excluded. The mysterious case has long aroused the interest of national media.
The bottom of the river became too sampled again on Wednesday, In addition to divers from the fire brigade, technical aids from the Bolzano professional fire brigade such as sonar devices and echo sounders were used.
Benno Neumair, the couple’s 30-year-old son, is known to have been entered in the investigation register for murder and hiding the corpses. So far, however, it is only a matter of suspicion, the presumption of innocence still applies. Benno Neumair was probably the last to see his parents before they disappeared.
According to media reports, one body of water has not yet been searched: the fishing pond in Pfatten. Benno Neumair is said to have stayed there for around 40 minutes the night his parents disappeared.
Whether the suspicion against him is confirmed will presumably depend on the results of the forensic investigation, reports the daily Alto Adige. The carabinieri from RIS in Parma have literally taken apart the couple’s car, a Volvo V70, in the past few days. Blood and biological traces have been seized in the car. The public prosecutor’s office assumes that the young man in this car transported the lifeless bodies of his parents in order to dispose of them in the Adige. Only then did he go to see his girlfriend in Auer.
According to Alto Adige, news has leaked in the past few days that the 30-year-old tried to wash his parents’ car. The Carabinieri would have stopped him. On the television show Mattino 5, which airs on the private broadcaster Canale 5, a reporter questioned an alleged witness who confirmed the rumor. According to this, the 30-year-old showed up with a friend at the Treff.Laimer car wash in Meraner Straße on the afternoon of January 12th. The girlfriend shouldn’t be Martina, the woman from Auer. Before the car could drive through the car wash, the carabinieri showed up. There was also a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the car – a product that can be used to remove blood. The bottle was confiscated by the Carabinieri.
On Wednesday, however, the program Chi l’ha visto on RAI3 dealt with the case again. While the woman from Auer apologized to the Carabinieri for not having immediately given the 30-year-old’s clothes, which she had washed two days earlier, during the search, Benno Neumair was also questioned. “The whole stress falls back on me and just the idea of talking about this story makes me feel sick,” said the son of the missing couple.
