The supremacy in Serie A has shifted compared to last season. AC Milan now leads the rankings, Juventus Turin only occupy the disappointing 6th place in the table as reigning champions.
At the end of the year, the sports analysis company OPTA announced the best eleven players in 2020 according to its data. Marco Silvestri (Hellas Verona) prevailed among the goalkeepers with only 14 goals conceded and 75 percent saved shots.
Juan Cuadrado, Matthijs de Ligt (both Juventus Turin), Francesco Acerbi (Lazio Rome) and Theo Hernandez from AC Milan form the four-man defensive chain in front of the Verona keeper. The company continues to spin its eleven in a 4-3-3 system.
High-flyers Rodrigo de Paul (Udinese Calcio) and the two Milan stars Franck Kessie and Hakan Calhanoglu also made it into the 2020 annual selection. The latter created 99 chances and delivered 14 assists – both league highs.

At the forefront is a coalition of three Serie A stars: Papu Gomez (Atalanta Bergamo), Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus Turin). Gomez proved to be a worker, winning the ball 28 times by counter-pressing.
The center-forward position will probably be the subject of discussion. Because neither Zlatan Ibrahimovic nor Ciro Immobile made it into the selection. But Lukaku, who needed less than 100 attempts for his 22 goals and thus the fewest of all Serie A players.
