Without US help, Kharkiv can become the second Aleppo

Kharkiv could become a second Aleppo if the US does not approve military aid to Ukraine, which would allow it to receive anti-aircraft support to defend against long-range Russian attacks.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov told the newspaper about this The Guardianreports Ukrinform.

He said Russia had changed tactics to try to destroy Kharkiv’s power grid and terrorize its 1.3 million people by shelling residential areas.

Terekhov noted that the US military aid package worth $60 billion, which is currently blocked in Congress, is of “crucial importance for us.”

“We need this support to prevent Kharkiv from becoming a second Aleppo,” Terekhov said, referring to the Syrian city that was heavily bombed by Russian and Syrian government forces 10 years ago.

As reported by Ukrinform, Bloomberg wrote that Russia’s intensification of attacks on Kharkiv is a way to force local residents to evacuate, because currently Moscow does not have enough forces to attack the city to capture it.

According to Bloomberg sources, the administration of US President Joe Biden discussed how to help Kharkiv with energy.

According to the Ministry of Energy, after the strikes of the Russian Federation in March, the situation with energy supply in the Kharkiv region remains the most difficult.
