“The 20th birthday of the Main Spessart self-help office, sponsored by the Bavarian Red Cross Main Spessart, is a welcome opportunity for us self-help groups in the district to express our appreciation and gratitude,” writes Manfred Marold from Gössenheim. As the head of one of the three Kreuzbund addiction self-help groups in the Main Spessart district with a group room in the Caritashaus Lohr, he can report on a long-standing, friendly and constructive cooperation with the self-help office.
In his statement on the reporting “Central Contact Point for 20 Years” of January 4th, it continues: “For 20 years now, the self-help office headed by Simone Hoffmann has been at our side, self-help volunteers, with technical advice and organizational help. Without this support we would be not to realize a self-help group work, as we want to offer it with our voluntary resources.
We ?? cross bundlers ?? As a professional association of Caritas, they maintain 43 groups with around 700 visitors a week in Lower Franconia. At the moment, digital meetings must also be used. With the active support of the self-help office MSP, our self-help groups were also able to enter the digital world of online telephone and video conferences.
It is not at all taken for granted that a self-help support office is available in a district. In the twelve districts and independent cities in Lower Franconia, there is only a self-help support office comparable to that in our district in the Hassberge district, in the city of Würzburg and, since 2021, in the city of Aschaffenburg.
In all other districts and cities, as when our self-help office Main-Spessart was founded in 2001, self-help support is provided at an inadequate level with a few hours a month and integrated into other work areas by municipal offices or agencies. In recent times, the need for effective and contemporary support for health-related and social self-help work has also been increasingly seen there. We are grateful that the Bavarian Red Cross, as a free welfare association, has taken on the sponsorship of the self-help office MSP.
As part of the nationwide action plan ?? Self-help-friendly hospital ?? our self-help groups cooperate with the Lohr District Hospital (BKH). The cooperation is moderated and organized by the self-help office. This cooperation means a special mutual benefit for our groups and the patients of the BKH. We congratulate you on your birthday! “
