Without Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández, Chelsea easily won and advanced in the Carabao Cup

Chelsea, sin Moses Caicedo or Enzo Fernandez, had no trouble getting rid of the weak Barrow, from League Two (English fourth division), and destroyed them with a resounding 5-0 in the third round of the League Cup.

The Blues completely rotated the starting eleven that beat West Ham United on Saturday, but still showed a very competitive team, with players like Christopher Nkunku, who scored a hat-trick, Joao Felix, who scored a free-kick, and Pedro Neto, who scored his first goal for Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca’s men took less than ten minutes to score the first goal, when Joao defused three defenders with a ball over the top that Nkunku sent into the net. Seven minutes later, the Frenchman back-heeled a Malo Gusto cross to complete his double and practically seal the game against a very modest Barrow, cheered on by 3,000 people from the stands who had come from the north of England.

With a comfortable 2-0 lead, Joao struck a free-kick against the post, the ball bounced off the woodwork, hit the back of Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman and into the goal.

Chelsea added a fourth in the second half after a mistake by a Barrow defender, who misjudged the bounce and let Nkunku run alone with the ball to pass it to Mudryk who assisted Neto, who finished into an empty net.

The fourth goal was caused by Barrow’s own goalkeeper, Farman, who made a mistake when trying to feint in front of Nkunku. The Frenchman stole the ball from him and scored unopposed.

Chelsea will find out their next opponents on Wednesday, in the draw that will take place once the third round matches are over.
