Electric cars get several advantages, both fiscal and non-fiscal. One of the non-tax incentives provided by the government is a free even-odd electric car.
In DKI Jakarta, odd-even is implemented to overcome traffic jams and air pollution. Battery electric cars are vehicles exempt from the odd-even vehicle restrictions.
However, those without even-odd numbers are only pure battery electric cars. Hybrid cars don’t get the same treatment in odd-even zone switching.
The special staff of the Coordinating Minister of Economy for Industrial and Regional Development I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan assessed that this non-tax incentive in the form of odd-even exemption is discriminatory.
“What kind of non-tax incentives are electric vehicles allowed to enter on odd-even roads. Unfortunately, electric ones are still very discriminatory, only all-electric ones can enter on odd-even number,” he said. Putu at ‘National Workshop: 100 Years of Indonesian Automotive Industry, Transition Strategy for Developing Electrification Technology and Operational Unit Management Towards Net Zero Emissions in Indonesia’, Thursday (1/12/2022).
Putu continued, other electrified vehicles should also receive the same treatment.
“Semi-electric vehicles, such as hybrids and plug-in hybrids, should also receive non-tax incentives. So that some regions in Indonesia can also apply non-tax incentives,” Putu said.
So far, many advantages of electric cars. In addition to being even-odd exempt, electric cars are also exempt from the luxury goods sales tax (PPnBM). Motor vehicle levies (PKB) and transfer charges (BBN) for electric vehicles entering local government coffers are much cheaper. There are even areas that release biofuel for electric vehicles.
