Roger Federer and Serena Williams are true tennis legends. The Swiss champion has won 20 Grand Slam tournaments, 28 Masters 1000 and 6 ATP finals in the course of his career. Lisnard highlighted Rafael Nadal’s mental strength and composure as “lighter” traits for young players to mimic. “If in the end you want to choose a player, it is better to try to become a Rafael Nadal than a Roger Federer.
Rafael Nadal is an example that is easier to “copy” even if I don’t like the term, especially in terms of state of mind and fighting, and without disregarding Roger who is a great champion.
“While Federer and Nadal have won 20 individual Grand Slams titles, their playing styles are opposing. The Swiss is known for his effortless style of play and graceful movement on the pitch.
On the other hand, Rafael Nadal’s strong topspin basic strokes and physical play are not as pleasing to the eye, but they have helped the Spaniard achieve the same level of success as the Swiss.
