Seven offenses including four misdemeanors, all in a handful of minutes: Ryan B. did well, at the very end of this weekend, at the wheel of his Renault. Refusal to comply, red light running, vehicle hit, possession of cannabis as a bonus: failing to party as planned, this young man aged around twenty had a small party which led him to court .
That evening, Ryan B. was traveling in the Ariane district, with two passengers on board and a loaded trunk. Seven cases of nitrous oxide canisters, but also cannabis cigarettes in puff form. “Big Party” in sight. However, he drives without insurance or a driving license, which is subject to suspension.
“Cascading damage”
In this context, the young motorist becomes frightened at the sight of the police. He refuses control and flees, taking insane risks. He runs a red light, then commits “cascading damage”, says the Nice criminal court. His car hits a parked Kangoo. The utility vehicle hits another car. No injuries. But Ryan B. was arrested, placed in police custody, then tried in immediate appearance this Tuesday.
Why did you get behind the wheel? “I was given no choice. I was the only one with a car, it was up to me”, justifies the defendant, defended by Me Daniel Nagara-Valmy. Prosecutor Christophe Tricoche requests 8 months in prison with probationary suspension for two years. The court chaired by Christian Legay follows him, and prohibits the young driver from retaking his license for six months.
