Without a Budget, the Mayor of Solo Asks Pilkada to Postpone All pages

SOLO, KOMPAS.com – Mayor Solo, FX Hadi Rudyatmo assess Regional Head Election ( Pilkada) Concurrent 2020 implementation can be postponed next year.

Because, this year there is still a plague of Covid-19.

In addition, the Solo City Government does not have enough budget to meet the lack of funds requested by the General Election Commission (KPU).

“This cannot be added anymore. KPU asks for Rp 11 billion, we do not have the budget for it. Paying electricity alone cannot. It can be postponed (Simultaneous Regional Election),” Rudy said in Solo, Central Java, Monday (6/29/2020) ).

The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak caused the simultaneous elections of the 2020 elections in Solo to double.

Previously, the KPU had received a grant of 2020 governing election (Pilwalkot) in the amount of Rp 15 billion.

Because the election was decided to take place in the middle of the plague, the KPU requires that officials from the Voting Committee apply the health protocol.

As a result, the KPU proposed an additional budget of around Rp 11 billion to the Solo City Government.

“The City Government has no budget for that. If we have a budget, we will give it. For the interests of the City Government,” he said.

“But the more urgent interests are paying for electricity, BPJS. If for that (the Pilkada) can be postponed in 2021 also does not reduce the time of his five-year tenure,” continued Rudy.

Rudy explained, the Indonesian KPU had conveyed that if the additional budget from the central government for the KPU did not go down, the Simultaneous 2020 Regional Election could be postponed as a whole.

“However, if the budget is liquid and the local government has no budget, it can be postponed,” said Rudy.

“If the KPU wants to postpone it is better. So, so that the budget is more flexible and the officers are not afraid to carry out factual verification,” said Rudy.

Previously, the KPU Solo requested an additional budget from the Solo City Government of Rp 10.64 billion.

The budget is used to implement health protocol handling Covid-19 in the Simultaneous Election in 2020.

Such as the addition of polling stations (TPS) and the ad hoc honorarium of KPU organizers which includes the District Election Committee (PPK), the Voting Committee (PPS) and the Voting Organizers Group (KPPS).

“We add 242 TPS from 1,016 TPS. So there are a total of 1,258 TPS. Because it requires that there are 500 voters each,” said Solo KPU Chair Nurul Sutarti.
