Withings at CES 2020 Consumer Electronics Show presented ScanWatch is a classic watch with smart features.
The new Withings watch has a small POLED display, which displays notifications of incoming messages and calls, as well as information about irregular heartbeats – these data are recorded using a heart rate sensor, which works continuously. In case of fixation of an irregular heartbeat, an electrocardiogram will be offered through the built-in electrodes. Moreover, the watch can warn of atrial fibrillation.
ScanWatch can also count the number of steps and track physical activity. The watch is able to track and analyze the user’s dream, and also have a “smart” alarm clock that wakes up during the phase of the easiest wake up. Withings says that ScanWatch was developed in collaboration with professional cardiologists and tested in a clinical setting.
Withings CEO Mathieu Letombe said integrated monitoring of oxygen levels can help the user detect episodes of low blood oxygen levels that occur during sleep apnea. Blood oxygen readings are also integrated with other sleep data, such as duration and quality of sleep.
However, for making certain diagnoses, a sleep study will be required, including monitoring the respiratory rate, heart rate and brain activity, as well as oxygen levels. However, researchers are confident that the oxygen level monitored by ScanWatch can serve as an initial diagnosis of potential apnea.
The 5W ATM-protected ScanWatch case is made of stainless steel and also covered with a sapphire crystal. The clock is synchronized with the smartphone via Bluetooth LE. Able to ScanWatch work out about 30 days. In Europe, the price tag is set at € 249.95 for a model with a diameter of 38 mm and € 299.95 for 42 mm (about 17,400 and 20,800 rubles, respectively).
