Within 7-10 days, the country will enter the “orange” Covid zone – 2024-04-22 15:25:37

/ world today news/ According to the opinion of many experts, our country is on the threshold of a third major epidemic wave in a row, warned the Minister of Health, Dr. Stoicho Katsarov, at a working meeting with the President.

According to him, Bulgaria is largely ready to welcome the new wave of the coronavirus, as he believes that within 7-10 days our country will enter the so-called “orange zone”:

“We are still in the green zone. The number of active cases is several times lower than in neighboring countries, but the trend outlines that within the next 7 to 10 days, probably our country, according to the criteria adopted by us and in within the EU, will enter the “orange zone”. This is the second level of danger, related to the number of new cases per 100,000 based on 14-day incidence,” explained Dr. Katsarov.

He recalled that our country has set an additional criterion – the number of occupied hospital beds with Covid patients to be over 2500. Whichever of the two is reached first, we change the color of the zone, and from there the measures.

“I can say that our country, for the most part, is ready to welcome the next wave from Covid-19″, the health minister also pointed out and warned that the main risk is related to the still low level of vaccination in the country. However, he noted as a positive fact the level of vaccination among doctors, which has already reached 70%, as well as the strengthening of immunization among the elderly.

After the meeting, President Rumen Radev noted:

“In the event of a new wave of Covid, every Bulgarian must be able to find the necessary medicines prescribed by his doctor in the pharmacy network. Every Bulgarian must be able to be admitted to a hospital if necessary. This is the most important condition to deal with this crisis”.

The Minister of Health also called for urgent budget update by the National Assembly, as all reserves are now almost exhausted. “A budget update is urgently needed, as all reserves regarding front line medical pay have been exhausted, practically completely”!

At the meeting of the official cabinet with the President Rumen Radev, the necessary socio-economic measures that must be taken by the Bulgarian institutions were discussed in order to reduce the negative consequences in case of a possible growth of the epidemic.
