Virginie De Carvalho and Azzedine Taïbi, dissident communist candidates throw in the towel. Clémentine Autain (LFI) in the 11th district of Seine-Saint-Denis and the communist Soumya Bourouaha in the 4th will be the only candidates for the second round of the legislative elections this Sunday.
Two communist candidates and dissidents from Nupes, Virginie De Carvalho and Azzedine Taïbi, fall into line in Seine-Saint-Denis following the results of the first round of elections. Both withdrew their candidacy for the second round of the legislative elections.
In this constituency, which includes the towns of Sevran, Tremblay-en-France and Villepinte, the dissident communist candidate Virginie De Carvalho, first deputy mayor of Tremblay-en-France, gives up before the second round, France Bleu Paris learned on Tuesday. Thus, only Clémentine Autain (Nupes / LFI) will appear in the second round for the left forces.
During the first round of legislative elections, Clémentine Autain obtained 46.15% of the vote. Her opponent, Virginie De Carvalho, is far behind her with 15.18%.

She explained on her Facebook page:Obviously, this result is a disappointment for us. For the second round, we decide to withdraw our candidacy and not to oppose the candidate of the Nupes…“
Clémentine Autain reacted to this withdrawal in a statement taking “note” of this decision which, according to her, “the result of a constraint, the too big difference between our scores“. She criticizes the attitude of her ex-rival during the campaign.”For many months, my predecessor and mayor of Tremblay-en-France, François Asensi, led a fierce campaign against me with Virginie de Carvalho, not hesitating to slander me for lack of serious political arguments. Was the affirmation of local power worth missing out on the historic gathering of the Nupes, bringing together rebels, ecologists, communists, socialists, personalities from the world of work and culture, and therefore the interest of the inhabitants of our cities?”
Azzedine Taïbi, mayor of Stains and dissident communist candidate was to face in the second round the communist candidate, Soumya Bourouaha invested by Nupes in the 4th constituency (Stains, Blanc-Mesnil, La Courneuve, Dugny). But Azzedine Taïbi announced on Tuesday the withdrawal of his candidacy and his departure from the PCF of which he had been a member for 35 years.
Soumya Bourouaha came first in the first round last Sunday with 36.13% of the vote against 21.43% for his rival.
