Ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is returning to politics and you can’t deny him that. That says ex-ÖVP Vienna boss Bernhard Görg im ORF.
If the ex-Vienna deputy mayor and ex-ÖVP-Vienna boss Bernhard Görg has his way, Sebastian Kurz could not only return to politics, but he could also “not be denied”, like the 80-year-old on Saturday evening in the ORF announces in the program “Bei Budgen”. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to get back into politics,” said Görg, but before that he had to “positively” settle all potential criminal cases.
“Someone like him, who has broadcast politics from every pore, will find it difficult to be paid well in the long run, but to live anonymously.”
Kurz himself had recently ruled out a political return, but: “I suspect he will have withdrawal symptoms very soon. In short, the party “led successfully for several years,” said the ex-politician, so it would have been a “sign of weakness” if Karl Nehammer hadn’t let him speak at the ÖVP party conference.
In the ORF interview, Görg rated Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s work as good, but he found the party color turquoise “disgusting”. Politically, it was difficult for Nehammer to differentiate himself from Kurz, according to the ex-ÖVPler, after all Kurz had “outshone” politics and trying “desperately” to do something else would not work. Regarding the name change from “The New People’s Party” to “The People’s Party”, Görg appealed: the name should have been kept and the turquoise party color should have been given up.
“Sometimes I had the impression with Sebastian that he said I was enough, I’m so popular and I outshine everything. It doesn’t really matter who becomes a minister because I outshine everything.”
“Turquoise is a hideous color, I never understood how to choose turquoise as a party color. In truth, turquoise was not really present for me as a contrast to black,” said Görg. And what he did too briefly: “I sometimes had the impression with Sebastian that he said I was enough, I’m so popular and I outshine everything. It doesn’t really matter who becomes a minister with me because I outshine everything anyway.” In any case, Kurz’s management qualities could be improved.
