Fitness bracelet Xiaomi Mi Band 6 is among the best in its category. The Chinese company has been able to skillfully combine quality measurement, elegant design and a nice price, which is a combination that customers can hear about. In our home China, it has also been offering payment via NFC for a long time, however, in our region we had to get a taste for this function. But that is changing today.
Xiaomi is bringing to our market a new version of the Mi Band 6 bracelet with NFC support and the option of storing a tokenized payment card in a smartphone, which will be able to be used for contactless payments as well. The Chinese giant is cooperating with Mastercard on this project, which mediates contactless payments – unfortunately, VISA cardholders are unlucky.
In the Czech Republic, 27 percent of users already use their mobile phones to pay for their purchases, and people have also become very fond of payments using watches and other wearable devices.
„I am very happy that our fans can usually pay in stores from today with the help of their favorite sports bracelet Xiaomi Mi Smart Band, which comes with NFC in a new version. As an active athlete, I know how important this feature is. I can go jogging in peace and I don’t have to decide where to store my card or money. User comfort, the addition of new services and the continuous improvement of existing ones are among the cornerstones of Xiaomi’s philosophy,“Explains Guojun Gao, director of the Czech branch of Xiaomi.
Supported banks
The first bank to support payment with this smart bracelet is ČSOB. In the coming weeks, support for mBank will also increase, and other banks should gradually follow. However, the list is not very wide to start with, but fortunately Xiaomi has also agreed with the Curve service, to which you can upload any payment card.
Payment with a bracelet is very simple. After entering the details from the Mastercard into Xiaomi Wear, the corresponding token is saved to the device. The next procedure is the same as when paying by mobile phone or watch.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 6 NFC user must select the card stored in the bracelet and enter the PIN code set in the application before the first payment. This unlock allows for easy and quick payments with a wrist strap for 24 hours or until removed from your hand, after which the PIN code must be re-entered. Payment is made by attaching the wrist to the contactless terminal. The smart authentication feature prevents unwanted payments by requiring the user to swipe from one side of the bracelet screen to the other. Then the device is activated and the transaction can be performed.
The recommended final price of the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 NFC bracelet was set at CZK 1,299 including VAT.
