There are always problems on the east-west axis of the Breisgau S-Bahn. Now the state, the railways and the special purpose association are presenting an immediate program to remedy the deficiencies.
The focus of the improvements is the operation on the Ost-West-Ache of the Breisgau S-Bahn with a focus on the Breisacher Bahn/Kaiserstuhlbahn-Ost, as the state announced on Tuesday afternoon. The state, the railways and the Freiburg regional transport association (ZRF) have agreed on this work package.
These four points should improve immediately.
1. Priority of securing the connection in Gottenheim
Problem: There are repeated complaints that the connection from the eastern Kaiserstuhl to Breisach and back does not work reliably because, especially in the case of delays, connecting trains pull away “right under your nose” and waiting times of 30 or even 60 minutes arise.
Suggested solution: Two measures have already been implemented to ensure future transfer connections. Despite the tight timetables of DB Regio, a new waiting time regulation will be introduced in Gottenheim (minimum waiting time of two minutes for connecting trains).
