Final year students have been posting post-baccalaureate training wishes on the Parcoursup platform since January 18 and until March 9. With the reform of the baccalaureate and the abandonment of the sectors (Literary, Economic and Social and Scientific), his wishes are determined by the specialties chosen in first class.
More students in first grade
This specialization of students has not led to an increase in attendance in the various tutoring courses in Montluçon (Allier). It has changed the profiles of the students even if nuances are perceptible from one organization to another.
“Basically, the baccalaureate reform has not changed our work. I have few requests for literary courses. I have requests for science subjects. Where there is a difference is that we have them from the first instead of the terminal. We don’t have more than a second, however. Families do not anticipate. »

A choice of specialty more complicated than before
The professionals realize that young people and their families do not always measure the consequences of the choice of specialties. They deplore that mathematics is neglected while the S sector was very popular before the reform.
“The students we receive in class have always asked us for advice. Today, they are told not to stop math. This abandonment is very harmful for them. It closes a lot of doors, including in subjects like law. »
Christine Ollier (Barathon course)
“But today, families are disoriented in the face of the baccalaureate reform. Before, it was quite simple with the sectors, now it is not at all and the choice of specialties that the students make is not necessarily coherent, ”she regrets.
Stress around math
Specializing in support in mathematics, from primary to preparatory class, Paula Grosso, director of Parmaths, has seen the impact of the issues that are currently brewing around this subject in the typology of her students.
“I have more and more primary and sixth graders. Some parents tell themselves that math is important. I find myself, on the other hand, faced with high school students who are increasingly stressed by the choice of specialties they have to make. They ask themselves a lot of questions about mathematics when the subject is not more complicated than before, at the time of the S sector. “
Paula Grosso (Parmaths)
“My students are either stressed young people, high school students or preparatory students who already have a very good level but whose parents have the means to give them a top level to enable them to obtain very demanding. »
A necessary parental investment
Emmanuelle Clément, who created the English for All course, joins Paula Grosso on the importance of parental involvement in the education of young people.
“I have more and more primary school students. The arrival of the students is not linked to a possible choice of specialty in high school but to the parents. Some travel a lot, others are aware of not being able to evolve as they would like in their career. They know the importance of mastering a foreign language. »

Specialty programs to be completed in March
While the reform of the baccalaureate will be able to apply this year as it was designed with written tests from March 20 to 22 for the specialties, the support professionals wonder about what will be the motivation of the high school students in the third quarter.
“This agenda is very stressful for teachers who have to run after time to complete the program in March. We are going to fill up for the internships during the February holidays, this year, instead of Easter, but after? »
Sylvie Sartirano
The director of IDECCC hopes that the part of continuous assessment will help the students to stay motivated, especially since the philosophy test and the Grand oral will take place in June.
