Djokovic completes career Golden Slam with Olympic gold
Statistics place Djokovic as the most successful tennis player in history, with gold being the only title missing from his incredible career. The Serbian completed the Golden Slam, joining the exclusive club of only four players who have achieved it before: Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion won his first major at the 2008 Australian Open and has since racked up a total of 10 titles there. Djokovic has also won 3 Roland Garros, 7 Wimbledon and 4 US Opens, making him the all-time leader in Grand Slam wins, surpassing Rafa Nadal (22) and Roger Federer (20).
Djokovic also boasts seven ATP Finals trophies, having finished the year as world number 1 on eight occasions and holding the record for most weeks as world number 1, with a total of 428 weeks. The Serbian’s long list of achievements also includes winning the Davis Cup with Serbia in 2010.
Djokovic is the all-time leader in Masters 1000 titles with forty. He is the only player to have won all 9 Masters 1000 tournaments, each of them at least twice, earning him the Career Golden Masters title. The Olympic gold medal now joins his extensive list of achievements in the most successful career of all time.
