With the beautiful days, the green way is taken by storm

With the arrival of fine weather, there are crowds at the entrance to the greenway. This route has been carried out in several stages since 2004, on the route of the old railway line.

The route crosses the villages of Vaunage from Caveirac to Sommières. It is a beautiful layout, comfortable and secure, accessible to bicycles, walkers, rollerbladers, runners, as well as people with reduced mobility. The route begins in the town, in the car park, Chemin de Milhaud. An extension to Nîmes is planned. To date, the lack of secure access from the metropolis of Nîmes requires users to get there by car.

Sunday March 14, frequentation of the greenway had indeed resumed. In general, in the morning, the greenway is mainly owned by cyclists and runners. In the afternoon, this route sees a crowd of families coming on rollerblades, scooters or on foot to take in the fresh air. On the other hand, cohabitation can sometimes prove difficult between those who choose the greenway in competition mode and those who take advantage of this space in walking mode. Anne, with her two children, testifies: “There are some not very nice cyclists. They go fast, and we get in the way.” Gérard points to awkward behavior: “Children learn to cycle on the track. They zigzag and parents are not vigilant enough.”

Another problem raised by walkers, the dog droppings more and more numerous on the course, despite a sign affixed at the entrance of the greenway, which recalls the incivility of some walkers.
