With the arrival of Bäckerei Krümel, no more bread goes to the Efteling | Tilburg eo

You only have to follow your nose and you will arrive at Bäckerei Krümel. It will be officially open to visitors to the amusement park from Saturday morning. Bakker Krümel regularly checks in with the queue of people waiting.

With the opening of the Bäckerei, the Max en Moritzplein in the Efteling is complete. When you arrive at the square you imagine yourself in a village in the Alps. “That was our aim at the start of this project,” says Melvin van Brakel, project manager catering. “After a year and a half of hard work, we can be proud of the result. The bobsleigh track has made way for the Max and Moritz roller coaster and opposite de Bäckerei, the former snack restaurant has been turned into Frau Boltes Kuche. During the recruitment campaign for the Bäckerei, we found the right people to serve our guests.”

‘It looks so beautiful’

Christel de Volder came from Belgium with her son for a day at Efteling and they enjoyed a pizza slice together. “Delicious” is her response. “Before we go home tonight, we’ll walk back in here to buy some goodies for the way home. And it all looks so beautiful.”

Bakker Krümel, an actor, comes out to tell the visitors what he is doing. “Of course I use flour and yeast. And free-range eggs from the neighbor’s chickens. They lay their eggs upstairs in the barn. But the main ingredient is secret and starts with L and ends with love,” he says. He entertains the guests with his stories about the rascals Max and Moritz who slip away from him every time.

Besides entertaining the guests at the Bäckerei, baker Krümel performs another act together with Mrs. Schmetterling, the mother of Max and Moritz. Father Raymond and son Thijmen Venema from Hilversum, subscribers, have just enjoyed coffee with a sausage roll. “Good quality”, says Venema. ,,But I missed something interactive in the Bäckerei. At Polle the pancake maker, a wheel is spinning. I expected something like that here.”
