With symphonic concerts led by Vasilij Sinaiskas and Kristina Poskas, the LNSO begins concert activity at the Hansa stage

It is significant that the concert series opens with the return of maestro Vasilij Sinaisky to the conductor’s desk of the LNSO – this season marks 50 years since Vasilij Sinaisky became artistic director and principal conductor of the LNSO .

Maestro Vasilis Sinaiskis was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the LNSO from 1975 to 1987 and is considered one of the greatest driving forces in the orchestra’s history. The director has been praised for his love of Latvian music, regularly maintaining and including the works of Latvian composers in his concert programs. Vasilijs Sinaiskis is currently principal conductor of the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor emeritus of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Honorary Conductor of the LNSO and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. The magnificent symphonic poem by Adolf Skulte will be performed in the program of the concert on 12 October waves, Czech composer Antonín Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony embraces the beauty of nature, but the soloist in the saturated Alto Concerto by English composer William Walton will be from Amsterdam. On the other hand, at the concert on October 25, we will hear Georg Sarkisyan’s solo in the famous Johannes Brahms Violin Concerto. Georgs Sarkisyan was a long-time concertmaster of the LNSO, combining concerts in several German orchestras and chamber ensembles, and currently fulfills the duties of assistant concertmaster in the Symphony Orchestra Wuppertal. Estonian Kristina Poska will take the director’s desk, which will be from 2019/2020 2021/2022, she is the main conductor of the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. 2016 seasons – chief guest conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. A piece by Juste Janulīte will also be performed in the concert program Confluence and Symphony No. 40 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
