With reports of vaccines, hopes for an end to the pandemic are rising, the WHO chief said

With reports of progress in vaccine development, hopes are growing that the covidu-19 pandemic will end. This was stated at a press conference today by the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He also warned that he would not have to reach poor countries due to the great interest in vaccines.

“The latest positive data from vaccine testing makes the light at the end of this long, dark tunnel brighter,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. According to him, there is now a “real hope” that the covid-19 pandemic will end thanks to vaccines and “proven” hygiene measures.

In recent days, Pfizer and BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca have published preliminary results of clinical trials of their vaccines. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are approximately 95 percent effective. AstraZeneca’s pharmaceutical company, which works with Oxford University, can be up to about 90 percent effective. Russia and China have also introduced their national vaccines.
